The Distinguished Staff Member Award
The Distinguished Staff Member Award ($1250 award) is the highest honor for staff. Nominees for this award will also be considered for:
- Outstanding Manager/Supervisor ($350 award)
- Outstanding Professional ($350 award)
- Outstanding Administrative Support Employee ($350 award)
- Outstanding Trades and Service Maintenance Employee ($350 award)
Additional Award Categories
- The Unsung Hero/Heroine Award ($650 award)
- The Distinguished Community Service Award ($650 award)
- The Outstanding Contribution to Diversity Award ($650 award)
- The Distinguished Team Award (gift award)
When submitting a nomination for the Distinguished Staff Member Award, your nominee will be considered for the following awards: Outstanding Manager/Supervisor, Outstanding Professional, Outstanding Administrative Support, and Outstanding Trades and Service Maintenance Employee. The selection committee will consider all nominees in each of these job categories for the overall Distinguished Staff Award.
Recipients of the Distinguished Staff Awards will be announced during the Holiday Party in December, 2011.

Employee Service Awards
The Service Awards Program recognizes employees' Total State service in increments of five years through retirement. All SPA employees recognized by this program select an award item from a collection of available items. All employees reaching a 5-year increment of State service (SPA, EPA Non Faculty and Faculty) receive certificates and are recognized by their colleagues at a festive awards program held annually.
For 2011, a number of UNC employees were recognized for their service.
