Supplemental Insurance
Unfortunately, accidents that can limit or even end your ability to earn an income can happen at any time. A variety of income protection plans are offered to eligible UNC employees. Optional life, cancer, hospitalization, and accidental death and dismemberment plans are available to employees through several companies and associations.
Supplemental Disability Income Plans
The university offers Supplemental Disability programs though Liberty Mutual for employees enrolled in the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System and through The Standard for employees enrolled in the Optional Retirement Program.
These plans are designed to fill in the gaps of the State’s plan for the first year of employment and provide a supplement during the short-term and long-term periods of the State’s plan.Employees pay the full cost of coverage.
