Workplace Wellness

The University of North Carolina at Asheville is committed to the development of a model workplace wellness program. To that end, we have established the Workplace Wellness Committee to help faculty and staff achieve a lifestyle that includes healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco cessation and stress management.

The North Carolina Center for Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Human Resources, is proud to host UNC Asheville's Workplace Wellness Program.
The Workplace Wellness Program and Campus Recreation are happy to announce the following Faculty & Staff summer fitness schedule. No registration required; drop in and join a class!
Exercise Programs:
Tuesdays: Cardio Circuit 5:30-6:30pm SHE 351
This 8-week class aims to get your heart rate pumping to the music by moving through a variety of upper body, core and lower body routines. Using comfortable weights, learn appropriate techniques for free weights for sculpting the arms. Using aerobic moves and step boxes, you'll work out your lower body. Learn to properly work out your core with some moderate crunches, again focusing on technique. Classes begin and end with relaxing and deserved stretching. By the end of 8 weeks, you'll see and feel the difference from your Cardio Circuit workout!
Thursdays: Gentle Yoga 5:30-6:30pm SHE 351
This 8-week yoga class is a great way to end a long work day. This class moves at a slower pace and stretches the body from head to toe. The program helps your body and mind release tension in a way that ushers you into a place of deep relaxation. This class is great for a variety of skill and yoga experience
Faculty/Staff group fitness courses are brought to you by the Workplace Wellness Program and Campus Recreation.

100-Miler Program Launches
Keep track of the miles you walk along UNC Asheville's trail system to be eligible to receive prizes and special recognition. Employees who complete 100 miles will receive a free polo shirt emblazoned with the official trail logo and a "100-Miler" designation. Additional details can be found on the Campus Walking Trails website.
Campus Walking Trail Map
The Workplace Wellness Program and Facilities Management have introduced a new UNC Asheville Walking Trail System Map and Guide.
From short and simple to more adventurous off-pavement excursions, the on and off-campus walking trails surrounding UNC Asheville offer a variety of courses to suit your style and fitness goals.
