Benefit Plans

UNC Asheville provides a variety of benefit plans to meet the needs for you and your family members. Health coverage is underwritten by the State Health Plan of North Carolina and provided by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina.

The options currently available:

  1. Traditional 70/30 PPO Plan
  2. Enhanced 80/20 PPO Plan

Other pre-tax voluntary benefits available through the NCFlex Program include:

  1. Dental Vision
  2. Critical Illness
  3. Cancer
  4. Term Life
  5. Tricare Supplement
  6. Health Care Flexible Spending Account
  7. Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account
  8. Accidental Death & Dismemberment

Benefit plans run from January 1 to December 31 of the current year. Open Enrollment is held each fall to make your elections for the following year.

New to the university? Welcome to the Bulldog family! Remember, you must enroll in health insurance within 30 days of your date of hire. Review the 2021 Benefits Guide for more details. 

Having a baby? Getting married? Spouse losing coverage? You have 30 days from the date of event to modify your elections.
