The UNC System Employee Engagement Survey was conducted in January 2020 by ModernThink LLC, an independent research and consulting firm that specializes in higher education workplace quality assessment. Survey participation was voluntary and completely confidential.
The engagement survey collects data about how faculty and staff view the university as a place to work, and will help the UNC System identify areas of strength and needed improvements at each institution. The data collected from the first survey in 2018 established a baseline metric for engagement to track over the course of this initiative.
Since 2018, a wide variety of initiatives have been undertaken at UNC Asheville to address the areas for improvement outlined in the 2018 survey results, including Common Grounds Sessions hosted by the Chancellor, listening sessions with the Provost and the Chancellor, and launching The Weekly Wag, the faculty/staff internal newsletter.
To gather perspectives and ideas to collaboratively address the areas that require attention based on results of the 2020 survey, Faculty Senate Executive Committee, Staff Council Executive Committee, and Senior Staff will host a series of virtual campus discussions will take place during the spring semester.
