Workers Compensation / Injury Report

To start the reporting process click the Incident Report link.

The Workers' Compensation Program is designed to assist any employee who suffers injury through an accident or occupational disease arising out of, and in the course of, their employment, according to the provisions of the North Carolina Workers' Compensation Act. This act applies to all university employees, whether full-time, part-time, or temporary.

Reporting Life-Threatening Job-related Injuries

When a life-threatening job-related injury or illness occurs, immediately contact University Police (ext. 6710 or 251-6710).  University Police will notify Emergency Services and the Environmental Health and Safety Officer. The Environmental Health and Safety Officer will assist as needed and support the Supervisor in conducting an Incident Investigation. If unable to reach University Police, call Emergency Services at 911.

When a life-threatening job-related incident occurs off-campus, please call Emergency Services at 911. Give details of the occurrence (i.e. who, what - type of injury or illness, when, where and how). Then contact your Supervisor and University Police as soon as you are able to do so.

Reporting Non-Life-Threatening Job-related Incidents

Report all incidents (i.e., near-miss, first-aid, injury or illness), no matter how minor, to your supervisor immediately. If medical treatment is needed, the Supervisor should contact the UNC Asheville Workers' Compensation Administrator for a referral to an approved medical provider.

The employee, if able, is responsible for completing the Incident Report within 24 hours. The supervisor may complete the report if the employee is unable to do so. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that all incidents, including those requiring no treatment and first aid (such as antiseptics and bandages, etc.), are reported.
